Skin Care For Men

Most men hate seeing those little fine lines around the corners of their eyes and mouth, but what they hate even more is using “beauty creams”, for women. Creators of anti-wrinkle creams and facial moisturizers have caught on and are now formulating products specially for men. They have created facial exfoliates, face cleansing gels, anti-aging creams, and more specially designed to meet the skin care needs of men. A man’s body chemistry is different from a women’s, therefore their hormones are different as well.

Men feel that if they are going to use face products, women products will do just fine. This is not true in all cases. While men’s skin retains a greater amount of collagen than women, once wrinkles start showing up on men, they form more quickly and deeply. So take action now, I am not saying that you need to go out and buy all of these new products. Every man needs to shave right? If you following these three steps when shaving, it will help prevent and reduce the signs of aging.

Exfoliating is your first step in what should become your regular routine. It is an excellent way to prepare for shaving, as it raises stubs and opens pores for a closer shave. You want to make sure that you do not over do your scrubbing. Soft, circular motions will do the trick. Shaving in itself is an exfoliator, but you do not shave areas such as your forehead and around your eyes. Exfoliating deep cleanses your skin and renews skin by removing dead skin cells. Which instantly revitalizes your appearance.

When shaving, try to find a shaving cream with extra moisturizer. This will help with lubrication and decrease the risk of shaving burns. Shaving right after you get out of the shower will help lock in moisture as well. Do not use shaving cream with alcohol in it. Alcohol dehydrates your skin, kills live cells, and alters skin’s biological balance. You want to avoid shaving too close, do not pull skin when you shave. Try not to put too much pressure on the blades. Shave with the grain and this will help reduce the risk of getting ingrown hairs.

Instead of using an aftershave when you finish shaving, try using a face lotion. An oil-free lotion with sun screen would be the ideal one to use. Most products women use on their faces such as makeup and moisturizer, contain sun screen. We should all know by now that over exposure to the sun will reek havoc on your skin. Every time you walk outside, your face is exposed to the sun’s harmful rays. Most men leave their faces unprotected from the environment. Even if you do not shave before leaving the house in the mornings, please use some type of moisturizer with sun screen in it.

Anti-wrinkle creams can help prevent wrinkles, but taking care of your facial skin daily is more effective. These steps are easy to follow and take very little time or effort. After two weeks of trying this routine, you will be able to see the difference. Some women may say who read this, “I can’t get him to try anything new”. I would suggest hiding his aftershave and replacing it with lotion. Also do not allow him to use body soap, remove it from his side of the sink, leave a facial scrub in its place. They will be using these products in no time.
